Paul: Understanding Baptism
This Sunday, we join Paul on his 3rd missionary journey. The 3rd journey covers much of the same ground as the first two journeys. The majority of Paul’s 3rd journey is spent in Ephesus. Paul briefly visited Ephesus on his 2nd journey. It wasn’t long enough to start a church, but he did share Christ with some people.
When Paul returns during his 3rd journey, he is looking for those people. He is disappointed that there is no church established in Ephesus. He does find 12 believers who kind of understand the Christian faith but are more fans of
Christ and not followers of Christ. Paul spends 2 years and 3 months in Ephesus teaching them about Christ, faith, baptism, the Holy Spirit, and establishing the church. Paul never spent that much time in any other place.
In this message, I invite you to reflect on what baptism means and the role of the Holy Spirit in your life.
