Paul: Final Words & New Beginnings
Today, we conclude our look at Paul’s life. We are looking at the end of Paul’s life and how he faced it.
It is 62AD and Paul is under house arrest in Roman. The final words in Acts (Acts 28:30-31) say this: Paul lived for two years in his rented house. He welcomed everyone who came to visit. He urgently presented all matters of the kingdom of God. He explained everything about Jesus Christ. His door was always open. The author of Acts doesn’t tell us what happened to Paul. He assumes that everyone would know what happened next.
When you read the stories about Paul, it’s not the final hours of his life or the way that he died that stand out. In fact, that information wasn’t even recorded in the New Testament. It wasn’t important enough. What was important about Paul’s last days and years was how he faced hardship, tragedy, suffering, and death with courage, hope, and an unshakeable faith. That is what people remembered about Paul.
